Jason Walsh sat at his desk running his hands over his face muttering low under his breath. He hated 'special favor' cases the Mayor called in. These always came with added pressures of added deadlines. This case? Worse yet because the victim was the daughter of one of the mayor's closest friends. Sergeant Brown was on the phone and Jason could see he was frustrated and trying to argue with who ever it was. Though he had a good idea and he leaned over nudging his partner, Casey Shraeger.
"Hey Shraeger."
"What is it Walsh?"
"Want to get out of her before Sarge's head explodes?"
"Why?"
"Well it's either leave now, or hear for the hundredth time how the mayor wants this solved now."
He could see his partner pausing and consider this. "Alright let's go."
Just as they stood he glanced over and saw Brown hanging up the phone.
"Quick Shraeger."
They headed on the way out just in time to hear that voice Jason dreaded more than Brown's. They guy was a decent cop but he played politics way too much. This was a case he thrived on to try and make a name for himself. Hey let him have it. He looked at Casey as they walked out, the last thing he could hear was:
"Eddie Alvarez always meets his deadlines, Sir. Just leave the Q and A to the E and A."
Jason just groaned inwardly and gladly got out of there. He was working the case his way, without the pressure of being at the station. He handled his cases without deadlines, that way he didn't miss anything by trying to rush.
